Message text: Comments could be shortened when saved
Saving the feature tree can, unfortunately, cause the comments to be
shortened.
The reason for this problem is that features are saved in tables T549B
and T549C, which do not include a field specifically for comments.
Depending on whether enough space is still available in the line in
question, in the field in question (after a decision operation, after a
return value), the comment is either stored in full, or shortened
first.
Please check your comments by accessing the feature tree after saving.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Comments could be shortened when saved ?The SAP error message 5P373, which states "Comments could be shortened when saved," typically occurs when the length of the comments or text entered exceeds the allowed limit set in the system. This can happen in various SAP modules where text fields are used, such as in sales orders, purchase orders, or other document types.
Cause:
- Character Limit Exceeded: The primary cause of this error is that the text entered in a comment field exceeds the maximum character limit defined for that field in the SAP system.
- Field Configuration: The configuration of the field may have a specific limit that is lower than what the user is trying to input.
- Data Type Restrictions: The data type of the field may restrict the number of characters that can be stored.
Solution:
- Check Character Limit: Review the maximum character limit for the specific comment field you are trying to fill. This information can usually be found in the field documentation or by consulting with your SAP administrator.
- Shorten Comments: If the comments exceed the limit, shorten the text to fit within the allowed character count. Focus on the most critical information.
- Use Additional Text Fields: If more information is necessary, consider using additional text fields or notes sections if available, or break the comments into multiple entries if the system allows it.
- Configuration Changes: If you have the necessary permissions and it is appropriate for your business process, you may consider discussing with your SAP administrator or technical team about increasing the character limit for that field. However, this may require changes in the system configuration and should be done with caution.
