Message text: Maximum formula length in cell [&1,&2] exceeded
Due to inserting or deleting lines or columns in material quantity
calculation, the parameters of at least one of the C functions (CNUM,
CSUM, CAMV, or CWAM) had to be repositioned. As a result, the maximum
formula length allowed was exceeded. The formula has become invalid.
The formula is not defined and you must manually go over it.
Check and correct the formula for cell [<(>&<)>V1<(>&<)>,<(>&<)>V2
<(>&<)>].
If required, divide up th formula. You can use the fields of the
<LS>Interim results</> column for this.
<ZH>Recommendation</>
Always enter parameters in C functions with leading zeros, for example
CSUM (005;002). If you do so, this error will not occur.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Maximum formula length in cell [&1,&2] exceeded ?The SAP error message 40352, which states "Maximum formula length in cell [&1,&2] exceeded," typically occurs in the context of SAP BusinessObjects or SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office when a formula in a cell exceeds the allowed length. This can happen when working with complex calculations or when a large number of nested functions are used in a single cell.
Cause:
- Excessive Formula Length: The formula in the specified cell exceeds the maximum character limit allowed by SAP.
- Complex Calculations: Using too many nested functions or overly complex calculations can lead to this error.
- Data Volume: Large datasets or extensive use of references can contribute to the length of the formula.
Solution:
- Simplify the Formula: Break down complex formulas into simpler components. Instead of having one long formula, consider using multiple cells to calculate intermediate results.
- Use Named Ranges: If applicable, use named ranges to simplify references within your formulas.
- Reduce Nesting: Limit the number of nested functions. Try to use helper columns or rows to perform calculations step-by-step.
- Check for Unnecessary References: Review the formula for any unnecessary references or calculations that can be removed or simplified.
- Split Calculations: If possible, split the calculations across multiple cells instead of trying to perform everything in one cell.
