- Header element(s) also deleted ?The SAP error message "37862: Header element(s) also deleted" typically occurs in the context of document processing, such as when working with purchase orders, sales orders, or other transactional documents. This error indicates that when you attempt to delete a line item or a specific element within a document, the system recognizes that the header element (the main document) is also being affected or deleted as a result of this action.
Cause:
Deletion of Header Elements: The error is triggered when the system detects that the deletion of a line item or sub-element will lead to the deletion of the entire document header. This is often due to the configuration of the document structure in SAP, where certain line items are dependent on the header.
Document Status: The document may be in a status that does not allow for certain deletions. For example, if the document is already processed or has been posted, the system may restrict changes.
Data Integrity Rules: SAP enforces data integrity rules to ensure that documents remain consistent. Deleting a line item that is critical to the document's integrity can lead to this error.
Solution:
Check Document Status: Ensure that the document is in a status that allows for modifications. If the document is already processed, you may need to reverse or cancel it before making changes.
Review Dependencies: Analyze the dependencies between the header and line items. If the line item you are trying to delete is essential for the header, consider whether it is appropriate to delete it.
Use the Correct Transaction: Make sure you are using the correct transaction code for the operation you are trying to perform. For example, if you are trying to delete a line item, ensure you are in the correct mode (e.g., change mode).
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on handling document deletions. This may provide insights into the rules governing the document structure.
Contact Support: If the issue persists and you cannot determine the cause, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert who can provide more tailored assistance.
