  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 29673 - An entry with revision level & is marked for deletion ?

The SAP error message 29673, "An entry with revision level & is marked for deletion," typically occurs in the context of material master data or other master data records in SAP. This error indicates that there is an entry in the system that has been flagged for deletion, and as a result, it cannot be processed or accessed in the way that is being attempted.

    Cause:

    1. Marked for Deletion: The specific entry (e.g., material, vendor, customer) has been marked for deletion in the system. This is often done as part of data maintenance processes to prevent further use of obsolete or incorrect records.
    2. Revision Level: The error message includes a revision level, which indicates that the entry in question has a specific version that is no longer active or valid.
    3. Data Integrity: The system is designed to maintain data integrity, and entries marked for deletion are not available for transactions or reporting.

    Solution:

    1. Check the Entry: Use transaction codes like MM03 (for material master) or other relevant transactions to check the status of the entry. Look for the deletion flag in the relevant views.
    2. Unmark for Deletion: If the entry should not be marked for deletion, you can unmark it. This can typically be done using transaction codes like MM02 (for material master) or similar, depending on the type of master data. Navigate to the relevant view and remove the deletion flag.
    3. Consult with Data Owners: If you are unsure whether the entry should be unmarked, consult with the data owners or relevant stakeholders to confirm the status of the entry.
    4. Data Cleanup: If the entry is indeed obsolete, ensure that any dependent records or transactions are also addressed to maintain data integrity.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes for managing master data, such as MM01 (create material), MM02 (change material), and MM03 (display material).
    • Authorization: Ensure you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to master data records.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's data governance policies for guidelines on managing master data and handling deletion flags.
    • Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.
