Message text: Document number modifier cannot contain only figures
You are creating a test file for transferring documents from an
external system. In the <LS>Document number prefix</> field you entered
a five-figure number. The system is to copy this as a prefix for the
selected document numbers.
You cannot use figures only (for example, not 11111 but 111).
Any blank characters you enter are converted to "_" (for example, 111
-> 111__).
Selected document numbers that are longer than 20 characters are
shifted five characters to the right, then given the prefix you defined
(for example, 111__ad-01).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Correct your entry in the <LS>Document nummer prefix</> field.

- Document number modifier cannot contain only figures ?The SAP error message 26170, "Document number modifier cannot contain only figures," typically occurs when you are trying to enter a document number modifier that consists solely of numeric characters. In SAP, document number modifiers are used to differentiate between different types of documents or to categorize them, and they often require a combination of letters and numbers.
Cause:
The error arises because the system has a validation rule that prevents the use of a document number modifier that is purely numeric. This is to ensure that the modifier is unique and easily identifiable, as purely numeric modifiers could lead to confusion or conflicts with other document types.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you should modify the document number modifier you are trying to use. Here are the steps you can take:
Change the Modifier: Instead of using a modifier that consists only of numbers, include at least one alphabetic character. For example, instead of using "12345", you could use "A12345" or "Doc123".
Check Configuration: If you are working with a custom configuration or a specific module, ensure that the settings for document number modifiers allow for the format you are trying to use. You may need to consult with your SAP administrator or technical team to verify the configuration.
Review Documentation: Check the relevant SAP documentation or help files for guidelines on valid document number modifiers for the specific transaction or module you are using.
Test the Change: After modifying the document number modifier, try to save or process the document again to see if the error persists.
Related Information:
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the error and successfully enter a valid document number modifier in SAP.
