The SAP error message "00303: You cannot process more than one session with this function" typically occurs when a user attempts to execute a function or transaction that is designed to allow only a single session at a time. This can happen in various scenarios, such as when trying to run a report or transaction that locks the session for processing.
Cause:
- Multiple Sessions: The user is trying to execute a transaction or function that is already running in another session.
- Locking Mechanism: Some transactions or functions in SAP are designed to prevent concurrent execution to avoid data inconsistencies or conflicts.
- User Configuration: The user might have multiple sessions open, and the specific function does not allow concurrent access.
Solution:
- Close Other Sessions: Check if you have other sessions open that are executing the same transaction or function. Close those sessions before trying again.
- Log Off and Log In: If you are unsure which session is causing the issue, log off from SAP and log back in to clear any existing sessions.
- Use Transaction Codes: If you are using a specific transaction code, ensure that you are not trying to execute it in multiple windows or tabs.
- Check for Background Jobs: If the function is being executed as a background job, ensure that it is completed before trying to run it again.
- Consult with SAP Basis Team: If the issue persists, it may be necessary to consult with your SAP Basis team to check for any system-level locks or configurations that might be causing the issue.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
