Overview
With this tool you could lock components to avoid that no further
installation / service pack upgrade is possible. You could also unlock
the components again.
The tool could be used during a DMIS migration (ie. TDMS, CMIS) to
ensure that no running migration is disturbed due to an addon
installation / service pack upgrade.
Problems could be caused by installation of
any DMIS addon / service pack (ie. DMIS, DMIS_CNT, DMIS_EXT, DMIS_HR)
during a DMIS project (ie. TDMS, CMIS) irrespective of the current
phase. Problems could be for example if a program which is part of the
process tree was changed in a service pack but requires now other
activities or a different customizing (which were not part of the old
service pack). To avoid this situation you could lock all the DMIS
components before running a DMIS project.
any addon / service pack (ie. SAP_ABA, SAP_APPL, SAP_BASIS, SAP_HR)
during a running DMIS migration in the system lock phase. For all tables
to be transferred a conversion object is generated. If a DDIC change of
one of these tables is part of the service pack the corresponding
conversion object will be invalidated and needs to be regenerated. To
avoid this situation you could lock all components before entering the
system lock.
Locking of Components
Select all components to be locked and press the "Lock components"
button. For all components which are not locked yet an entry in the
PAT06-table with the lock flag will be created. The user field will be
filled with the value "DMIS" to advise the system administrator who
wants to install an addon of a running DMIS project.
Nevertheless the system administrator could delete the lock flag
manually in the PAT06 table if he decides that the addon installation
has an higher priority than the running DMIS project.
Unlocking of Components
Select all components to be unlocked and press the "Unlock components"
button. Please not that only components locked by this tool could be
unlocked. For all components which could be unlocked the lock flag in
the PAT06 will be deleted.
The tool will not check if any other DMIS project is currently running
in the system - therefore checking the DMIS overview transaction and
coordinating with other users may be recommended to avoid endangering
other DMIS projects.
Other Systems
If the tool is called out of a package context and the RFC-destinations
were already defined you could also show, lock and unlock the components
of the remote systems with the button "Other systems".
