table name, and a list of arguments, each consisting of <Formal
parameter = Arg>, for example:

COLOR and PRICE are formal parameters of the table, 'red' is a constant
and PRICE_1 is a characteristic-specific variable.
A function is identified by the keyword FUNCTION. The other entries are
the same as for a table, for example:
FUNCTION TEST_FUN(COLOR='red',
PRICE=PRICE_1)
