  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WXP666 - Planned division &1 is different from division &2 (plant &3) ?

    SAP Error Message:
WXP666Planned division &1 is different from division &2 (plant &3)

    Cause:

This warning message occurs when there is a mismatch between the planned division assigned to a sales document (e.g., sales order, delivery) and the division assigned to the plant involved in the transaction.

    • The sales document or item has a division (&1) that differs from the division (&2) assigned to the plant (&3).
    • This inconsistency can lead to issues in sales reporting, pricing, or integration with other modules because division is a key organizational unit in Sales and Distribution (SD).

    Explanation:

    • Division in SAP SD is used to group products or services.
    • Each plant in the system can be assigned to one or more divisions.
    • When creating or processing sales documents, the system checks if the division in the sales document matches the division(s) assigned to the plant.
    • If they differ, SAP issues this warning to alert the user to a potential data inconsistency.

    Solution:

    1. Check Plant-Division Assignment:

      • Use transaction OVX5 to check or maintain the assignment of divisions to plants.
      • Ensure that the plant (&3) is assigned to the division (&1) used in the sales document.
    2. Adjust Sales Document Division:

      • If the plant is correctly assigned to a different division, adjust the division in the sales document to match the plant’s division.
      • This can be done during sales order creation or by changing the division in the sales document item.
    3. Assign Division to Plant:

      • If the plant should be used for the division in the sales document, assign the missing division to the plant in OVX5.
      • This allows the plant to be valid for that division.
    4. Review Master Data:

      • Check the material master, customer master, and sales area data to ensure consistent division assignments.
      • Sometimes, inconsistent master data leads to this warning.
    5. Ignore Warning (if appropriate):

      • Since WXP666 is a warning (not an error), it can be ignored if the business process allows.
      • However, ignoring it may cause inconsistencies in reporting or pricing.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction OVX5: Assign divisions to plants.
    • Sales Area: Combination of Sales Organization, Distribution Channel, and Division.
    • Material Master: Division is often derived from the material or sales area.
    • Sales Document: Division is a key field in sales order header and item.
    • Impact: Division mismatch can affect pricing procedures, reporting, and integration with other modules like Finance or Controlling.
