How To Fix WXP571 - Aggregation behavior for key figure &1 is not "Total"

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: WXP - Retail Planning

  • Message number: 571

  • Message text: Aggregation behavior for key figure &1 is not "Total"

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have not chosen the non-time-based aggregation behavior "Total" for
key figure &V1& in planning step &V2&. You have, however, assigned a BW
InfoObject to the key figure, so that when actual data is read from the
connected BW system, the key figure is supplied with actual data.
Note, however, that when the actual data is read, an automatic
aggregation of the BW data, which is assigned to the planning step that
is to be supplied (here &V2&), takes place at the info structure level.
This automatic aggregation does not take into consideration the
aggregation behavior selected for the key figure. Instead it uses the
    (non-time-based) aggregation behavior "Total".

    System Response

This is only a warning. The planning scenario can still be activated.

    How to fix this error?

Make sure that the aggregation behavior "Total" is justified for key
figure &V1& in the data aggregation at info structure level of planning
    step &V2&.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WXP571 - Aggregation behavior for key figure &1 is not "Total" ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation for the SAP error message:

    SAP Error Message:

WXP571: Aggregation behavior for key figure &1 is not "Total"

    Cause:

This warning message occurs in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BW/4HANA when you are trying to use a key figure in a query or calculation where the aggregation behavior of that key figure is expected to be "Total" but it is not set as such.

    • Aggregation behavior defines how key figures are aggregated during query execution (e.g., sum, average, last value, total, etc.).
    • The message indicates that the key figure you are using has an aggregation behavior other than "Total" (e.g., "Average", "Last Value", "Min", "Max", etc.).
    • Some query functions or calculations require the key figure to have aggregation behavior "Total" to ensure correct summation or aggregation logic.

    When does it occur?

    • When creating or executing queries in BEx Query Designer or Analysis for Office.
    • When using certain functions or restricted key figures that require total aggregation.
    • When defining calculated key figures or restricted key figures that depend on aggregation behavior.
    • When using key figures in conditions or exceptions that expect total aggregation.

    Solution:

    1. Check the Aggregation Behavior of the Key Figure:

      • Go to the InfoProvider (e.g., InfoCube or ADSO) where the key figure is defined.
      • Open the key figure maintenance.
      • Check the "Aggregation Behavior" setting.
    2. Change Aggregation Behavior to "Total":

      • If the business logic allows, change the aggregation behavior of the key figure to "Total".
      • Save and activate the InfoProvider.
    3. Use a Different Key Figure:

      • If changing the aggregation behavior is not possible or not correct, use a key figure that already has aggregation behavior "Total".
    4. Adjust Query Logic:

      • Modify the query or calculation logic to avoid using key figures with non-total aggregation behavior in contexts that require total aggregation.
      • For example, avoid using key figures with "Average" aggregation in sum calculations.
    5. Consult Business Requirements:

      • Sometimes the aggregation behavior is set intentionally to reflect business logic (e.g., average price).
      • Confirm with business users whether the aggregation behavior should be changed or if the query logic should be adjusted.

    Additional Information:

    • Aggregation Behavior Types:

      • Total (Sum)
      • Average
      • Last Value
      • Min
      • Max
      • None
    • Impact of Aggregation Behavior:

      • Determines how data is aggregated when drilling down or rolling up in queries.
      • Incorrect aggregation behavior can lead to misleading or incorrect results.
    • SAP Notes and Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP BW documentation on key figure aggregation behavior.
      • SAP Notes related to WXP571 may provide additional guidance.

    Summary:

    Aspect Description
Cause Key figure used has aggregation behavior other than "Total" but "Total" is expected.
Solution Change aggregation behavior to "Total" or adjust query/calculation logic accordingly.
Related Info Aggregation behavior affects how key figures are summed or aggregated in queries.

If you provide the specific context (e.g., query design, calculation, InfoProvider type), I can help with more tailored advice.
