SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message class: WXP - Retail Planning

  • Message text: Data in planning hierarchy table &1 has been deleted

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have changed or enhanced the assignment of planning levels. As a
result, (hierarchy) table &V1& must be re-generated to save
proportional factors from the planning hierarchy. Proportional factors
have already been created in this table and they have to be deleted in
order for the system to be activated.

    System Response

The planning scenario could not be activated.

    How to fix this error?

Re-activate the planning scenario so that the hierarchy tables can be
    re-generated.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The hierarchy tables in Merchandise & Assortment Controlling are
generated DDIC tables that can be processed, with limitations, using
the Data Dictionary. If it is not possible to activate the planning
scenario despite having deleted proportional factors, it is also
possible to delete existing entry in the relevant hierarchy table &V1&
or the entire table using the data dictionary.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WXP263 - Data in planning hierarchy table &1 has been deleted ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation for the SAP error message:

    SAP Error Message:

WXP263: Data in planning hierarchy table &1 has been deleted

    Cause:

This warning message indicates that the data in the specified planning hierarchy table (the table name is substituted for &1) has been deleted. This typically happens when the planning hierarchy data, which is essential for certain planning functions or reports, has been removed either intentionally or accidentally.

    Common causes include:

    • Manual deletion of planning hierarchy data in the system.
    • Transport or system copy activities that did not include the planning hierarchy data.
    • Inconsistent or incomplete data loads during planning setup or migration.
    • System cleanup or archiving jobs that removed the data.
    • Errors during planning hierarchy maintenance or activation.

    Explanation:

Planning hierarchies are used in SAP Planning applications (such as SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, SAP BW Planning, or SAP Integrated Business Planning) to structure planning data. If the hierarchy data is missing or deleted, the system cannot perform planning functions that depend on this hierarchy, leading to this warning.

    Solution:

    1. Check the Table Name:
Identify the table mentioned in the message (substituted for &1). Common planning hierarchy tables include:

      • /BIC/ prefixed tables in BW
      • Planning-specific tables like WXP* or /SAPAPO/ tables in APO.
    2. Restore or Rebuild the Planning Hierarchy Data:

      • If you have a backup or transport containing the hierarchy data, restore it.
      • Reload or re-import the planning hierarchy from the source system or from a saved transport.
      • Recreate the planning hierarchy manually if no backup is available.
    3. Check Transport and System Copy Logs:
Ensure that planning hierarchy data was included in transports or system copies.

    4. Verify Authorizations:
Ensure that users performing planning hierarchy maintenance have the correct authorizations to avoid accidental deletions.

    5. Run Consistency Checks:
Use SAP tools or reports to check the consistency of planning hierarchy data.

    6. Consult SAP Notes:
Search for SAP Notes related to WXP263 or planning hierarchy data deletion for any known issues or patches.
