  • What causes this issue?

The Enterprise Portal has transferred a portal role name or a service
name that pretends to use a long role name, but the long name data are
    missing.

    System Response

For portal role names there are no functional limitations, as the
portal role name has no direct influence on the operations on this
    role.
If this error occurs for a service name, this service will ignored when
creating or updating an authorization role, because incorrect data
    could be created.

    How to fix this error?

    Contact your system administrator.

    Procedure for System Administrators

This is the result of an inconsistency within the data transferred from
    the Enterprise Portal.
The database tables WP3ROLEDEF/WP3ROLEUSRH/WP3ROLESRV contain entries
for a long object with key &V1& &V2& &V3& which has no entries in table
    WP3ROLEDEFLONG/WP3ROLEUSRHLONG/WP3ROLESRVLONG.

Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WP3ROLES044 - Long object name missing ?

The SAP error message WP3ROLES044: Long object name missing typically occurs in the context of Workflow or Role Management when an expected long object name is not provided or cannot be found.

    Cause

    • The error arises because the system expects a long object name (a descriptive name or identifier) for a workflow object, role, or related entity, but this name is missing or not maintained.
    • This can happen if:
      • The object was created or referenced without a proper long name.
      • The long name attribute is empty or not filled in the customizing or master data.
      • There is a mismatch or inconsistency in the object metadata.
    • Often seen in SAP Business Workflow or PFCG (Role Maintenance) when roles or workflow objects are referenced programmatically or during transport/import.

    Solution

    1. Check the Object Master Data:

      • Identify the object (role, workflow container element, etc.) causing the error.
      • Go to the relevant transaction (e.g., PFCG for roles, SWO1 for workflow objects).
      • Verify that the long object name or description is maintained.
    2. Maintain Long Object Name:

      • If missing, enter a meaningful long name or description.
      • Save the changes.
    3. Transport and Synchronize:

      • If the error occurs during transport, ensure that the long names are included in the transport request.
      • Re-import or synchronize the objects if necessary.
    4. Check Customizing and Configuration:

      • In some cases, the error may be due to missing configuration in workflow or role definitions.
      • Review the workflow container elements or role definitions to ensure all required fields are filled.
    5. Debugging (if needed):

      • If the cause is unclear, debugging the workflow or role processing program can help identify where the long name is expected but missing.
