    for customer &V2& actually exists.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message WH073 - Error reading communication profile & (customer &) ?

    SAP Error Message:
    WH073 - Error reading communication profile & (customer &)

    Cause:

This error typically occurs when SAP tries to access or read the communication profile for a specific customer but fails. The communication profile contains important data related to how SAP communicates with external systems or partners (e.g., EDI, ALE, IDoc communication). The failure can be due to:

    • The communication profile for the specified customer does not exist or is not maintained.
    • Incorrect or incomplete configuration in the customer master or partner profiles.
    • Missing or inconsistent entries in the communication partner or partner profile setup.
    • Authorization issues preventing access to the communication profile.
    • Technical issues such as database inconsistencies or transport errors.

    Solution:

    1. Check Communication Profile Setup:

      • Go to transaction WE20 (Partner Profiles) and verify if the partner profile for the customer exists and is correctly maintained.
      • Ensure that the communication parameters (ports, message types, partner numbers) are properly configured.
    2. Verify Customer Master Data:

      • Check the customer master (transaction XD03 or VD03) to ensure that the communication data is correctly maintained.
      • Confirm that the customer is assigned the correct partner number and communication profile.
    3. Maintain Communication Profile:

      • If the communication profile is missing, create or maintain it using the appropriate transactions (e.g., WE21 for ports, WE20 for partner profiles).
      • Ensure that the profile matches the expected communication method (e.g., EDI, ALE).
    4. Check Authorizations:

      • Verify that the user or process trying to read the communication profile has the necessary authorizations.
    5. Technical Checks:

      • Run consistency checks on the relevant tables (e.g., EDIDC, EDID4 for IDocs).
      • Check for any transport or system errors that might have caused incomplete data.
    6. Debugging:

      • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, debugging the function module or program that reads the communication profile can help identify the exact point of failure.

    Related Information:

    • Transactions:

      • WE20 - Partner Profiles
      • WE21 - Ports
      • WE30 - IDoc Types
      • WE02 / WE05 - IDoc Monitoring
      • XD03 / VD03 - Display Customer Master
    • Tables:

      • EDIDC - Control record for IDocs
      • EDID4 - Data records for IDocs
      • EDIPAR - Partner profiles
    • Notes and Documentation:

      • SAP OSS Notes related to communication profiles and partner profiles.
      • SAP Help Portal documentation on EDI and ALE configuration.

    Summary:
The WH073 error indicates a problem reading the communication profile for a customer, usually due to missing or incorrect configuration in partner profiles or customer master data. Reviewing and correcting the communication profile setup and ensuring proper assignment in customer master data typically resolves the issue.
