Component material &V1& is a full product. Full products are however
not allowed as components, since multilevel BOMs would otherwise arise.
Such BOMs are not supported in Retail

    Processing cannot be carried out.

Check the indicator with 'Full Prod. BOM' in the article master. In the

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message W_012 - Full products are not allowed as component materials ?

    SAP Error Message:
W_012 Full products are not allowed as component materials

    Cause:

This warning message occurs when you try to use a full product (a finished product or a sales item) as a component in a Bill of Materials (BOM). In SAP, components in a BOM are typically raw materials, semi-finished products, or assemblies, but not full finished products that are meant to be sold as standalone items.

The system restricts the use of full products as components to avoid inconsistencies in production planning, costing, and inventory management. Using a full product as a component can lead to incorrect BOM structure and planning errors.

    Explanation:

    • Full products are materials flagged as finished goods or sales items.
    • Component materials in a BOM should be raw materials, semi-finished goods, or assemblies.
    • The system checks the material master data and issues this warning if a full product is assigned as a component.

    Solution:

    1. Check the Material Master:

      • Go to transaction MM03 and check the material type and sales status of the component material.
      • Verify if the material is flagged as a finished product or sales item.
    2. Change the Material Usage:

      • If the component is incorrectly classified as a full product, change its material type or sales status to a semi-finished product or raw material, if appropriate.
      • This can be done via MM02 (Change Material) by adjusting the material type or sales views.
    3. Use Appropriate Components:

      • Replace the full product component in the BOM with the correct raw material or semi-finished product.
      • If the full product must be used, reconsider the BOM structure or product design.
    4. Ignore the Warning (if applicable):

      • Since this is a warning (W_012), not an error, you may proceed if you understand the implications.
      • However, it is generally recommended to correct the BOM to avoid planning and costing issues.

    Related Information:

    • Material Types:

      • Semi-finished Product (HALB)
      • Raw Material (ROH)
