Message text: KB contains config. profiles of different types (nested KMAT + others)
The knowledge base runtime version contains configuration profiles of
different types (nested KMAT and non-nested KMAT).
When configuration profiles of different types appear in a decomposition
hierarchy, the corresponding profile combinations are invalid in the
variant configurator. You have to treat a subordinate KMAT as a
non-configurable material. The IPC does not support this instance.
Select configuration profiles in a knowledge base that are as much as
possible all of the same type (nested KMAT or non-nested KMAT).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

VSCE450
- KB contains config. profiles of different types (nested KMAT + others) ?The SAP error message VSCE450 indicates that there is a configuration issue related to the configuration profiles of different types in a variant configuration scenario. Specifically, it suggests that the configuration profiles for a configurable material (KMAT) are mixed with other types of configuration profiles, which is not allowed.
Cause:
The error typically arises in the following scenarios:
- Mixed Configuration Profiles: You have a configurable material (KMAT) that is trying to use configuration profiles that are not compatible with it. For example, you might have a KMAT that is trying to reference a non-KMAT configuration profile or a different type of configuration profile.
- Incorrect Configuration Settings: The configuration settings for the material may not be set up correctly, leading to conflicts between the profiles.
- Hierarchy Issues: If you are using nested KMATs, there may be issues with how the profiles are defined and linked.
Solution:
To resolve the VSCE450 error, you can take the following steps:
Check Configuration Profiles:
- Review the configuration profiles assigned to the KMAT. Ensure that all profiles are of the same type and compatible with the KMAT.
- If you have nested KMATs, ensure that the profiles for each KMAT are correctly defined and do not mix with other types.
Adjust Configuration Settings:
- Go to the configuration settings of the material in question and verify that the settings are correct. Make sure that the configuration profiles are properly assigned and that there are no conflicts.
Use Consistent Profiles:
- If you need to use different types of profiles, consider separating them into different materials or ensuring that they are compatible with the KMAT structure.
Test Configuration:
- After making changes, test the configuration to ensure that the error does not reoccur. You can do this by creating a new sales order or using the configuration transaction to see if the error persists.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for more detailed guidance on configuring KMATs and handling configuration profiles.
