How To Fix VO066 - Delivery &1 was not transferred to wave &2 for capacity reasons

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: VO - W&S: Rough workload forecast + picking wave

  • Message number: 066

  • Message text: Delivery &1 was not transferred to wave &2 for capacity reasons

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Wave picks were created in a background job. The system could not assign
delivery &V1& to the wave pick &V2&, because a capacity limit had
    already been exceeded.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

You can carry out the following activities:
Create a new wave pick for the remaining deliveries.
If you want to include delivery &V1& in a wave pick, despite the
violation of the capacity limitations, delete the wave pick &V2&.
Now create a new wave pick and select the processing type "Display waves
    before saving".
You can now add the deliveries rejected due to capacity restrictions to
    the wave pick.

    Procedure for System Administrators

If necessary, check the settings for the capacity restrictions in
    Customizing for wave pick profiles.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VO066 - Delivery &1 was not transferred to wave &2 for capacity reasons ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation of the SAP error message:

    SAP Error Message:

VO066 - Delivery &1 was not transferred to wave &2 for capacity reasons

    Meaning / Cause:

This error occurs in the Warehouse Management (WM) or Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) module during the wave creation or wave release process. The system tries to assign a delivery (&1) to a wave (&2), but it cannot do so because the capacity limits defined for the wave or the warehouse resource have been exceeded.

    In other words:
The wave or the resources involved in the wave (like picking areas, work centers, or handling units) have a capacity restriction, and adding this delivery would exceed that capacity. Therefore, the system blocks the transfer of the delivery to the wave.

    Common Causes:

    • Capacity restrictions set in the wave template or wave profile: The wave has a maximum capacity (e.g., number of deliveries, weight, volume, or number of handling units) that cannot be exceeded.
    • Resource capacity limits: The warehouse resources (e.g., picking work centers, storage bins, or personnel) have capacity constraints that are checked during wave creation.
    • Incorrect or too restrictive capacity parameters: The capacity parameters might be set too low or not aligned with actual warehouse capabilities.
    • Large delivery size: The delivery itself might be too large or heavy, causing the capacity to be exceeded when added to the wave.
    • Multiple deliveries assigned to the same wave: The cumulative effect of multiple deliveries assigned to the wave exceeds capacity.

    Solution / How to Resolve:

    1. Check Wave Capacity Settings:

      • Review the wave template or wave profile settings in transaction /SCWM/WAVE or relevant customizing.
      • Look for capacity parameters such as maximum number of deliveries, maximum weight, volume, or handling units allowed per wave.
      • Adjust these parameters if they are too restrictive and if business processes allow.
    2. Check Resource Capacity:

      • Verify the capacity settings of warehouse resources involved in the wave.
      • Adjust resource capacities if possible or redistribute workload.
    3. Split Large Deliveries:

      • If a delivery is too large, consider splitting it into smaller deliveries or waves.
    4. Create Additional Waves:

      • Instead of forcing all deliveries into one wave, create multiple waves to distribute the workload.
    5. Check for Custom Enhancements:

      • Sometimes, custom code or user exits might enforce additional capacity checks. Review any custom logic that might be causing the restriction.
    6. Monitor Wave Creation Logs:

      • Use transaction /SCWM/WAVE or relevant wave monitoring tools to analyze wave creation and identify capacity bottlenecks.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes related to wave capacity and delivery assignment for any known issues or patches.
    • Wave Management: Wave management is a key process in SAP EWM to group deliveries for picking and shipping.
    • Capacity Planning: Proper capacity planning in warehouse management is crucial to avoid such errors.
    • Transactions:
      • /SCWM/WAVE - Wave management
      • /SCWM/PRDO - Monitor warehouse orders
      • /SCWM/RES - Resource management

    Summary:

The error VO066 indicates that the delivery cannot be assigned to the wave because doing so would exceed the capacity limits set for the wave or warehouse resources. To fix this, review and adjust capacity settings, split deliveries or waves, and ensure resource capacities are adequate.
