Message class: VL -
Message number: 496
Message text: Delivery update not possible; distributed document cannot be changed
The delivery cannot be updated with the required changes because the
corresponding distributed document does not allow these changes to be
updated.
The system cannot save the operation. A detailed error log cannot be
issued at this stage in processing.
Check the corresponding distributed delivery documents in the other
system. Probably the status of the delivery does not allow a change.
The possible causes include:
The delivery has already been billed.
The stock situation has changed and the availability check fails, or
the batches assigned in the decentralized system during confirmation of
the transfer order are not available in the central system.
If necessary, check whether the business process is set up properly if
this message appears on confirmation of transfer orders in the
decentralized system. You must ensure that the status of the delivery
allows quantity changes and batch assignment in the central system
until the picking process is completed in the decentralized system.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
