VJ367
- With this material type, ext. material no. must not contain only numbers ?The SAP error message VJ367 indicates that there is an issue with the external material number (EAN) for a specific material type. This error typically arises when the external material number is composed solely of numeric characters, which is not allowed for certain material types in SAP.
Cause:
The error occurs because the configuration for the specific material type in SAP requires that the external material number must contain at least one non-numeric character. This is often a validation rule set in the system to ensure that external material numbers are unique and easily distinguishable from other numeric identifiers.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:
Check the External Material Number: Ensure that the external material number you are trying to enter contains at least one alphabetic character or special character. For example, instead of using "123456", you could use "123A56" or "A12345".
Review Material Type Configuration: If you have access to the configuration settings, check the settings for the specific material type in transaction code
OMW0
(or similar) to see if there are any restrictions or validation rules that can be adjusted.Consult with SAP Basis or Functional Team: If you are unsure about changing configurations or if the issue persists, consult with your SAP Basis or functional team. They can provide insights into the specific material type settings and help you adjust them if necessary.
Use a Different Material Type: If the material you are trying to create does not necessarily need to be of that specific material type, consider using a different material type that does not have the same restrictions.
Documentation and Training: Ensure that users entering material numbers are trained on the requirements for external material numbers, including the need for alphanumeric characters.
