Message text: Target unit of measure has changed. Check target quantity.
The system makes the target unit of measure equal to the sales unit of
measure.
Target and sales unit of measure for the item deviate from one another,
and at least one of the two is a proportion or product unit of measure.
This means that the item status cannot always be correctly determined
and the system treats the units of measure as the same.
Because the target unit of measure has changed, check the target
quantity. You can only change the target unit of measure if the sales
unit is neither a proportion of production unit of measure.

V1743
- Target unit of measure has changed. Check target quantity. ?The SAP error message V1743, which states "Target unit of measure has changed. Check target quantity," typically occurs in the context of sales and distribution (SD) processes, particularly when dealing with sales orders, deliveries, or billing documents. This error indicates that there is a discrepancy between the unit of measure (UoM) defined for a material in the sales document and the unit of measure that is being used in the transaction.
Causes:
- Unit of Measure Change: The unit of measure for the material has been changed in the material master or in the sales order, leading to a mismatch.
- Conversion Issues: There may be issues with the conversion factors between different units of measure, especially if the material is sold in different units (e.g., pieces vs. boxes).
- Configuration Issues: The configuration settings in the SAP system for the material or sales document may not be aligned, causing inconsistencies.
- Data Entry Errors: Manual entry errors during the creation of sales orders or deliveries can lead to incorrect unit of measure being used.
Solutions:
- Check Material Master: Verify the unit of measure settings in the material master (transaction code MM03). Ensure that the base unit of measure and sales unit of measure are correctly defined.
- Review Sales Document: Check the sales order or delivery document for the target quantity and unit of measure. Ensure that they match the definitions in the material master.
- Adjust Conversion Factors: If applicable, review and adjust the conversion factors between different units of measure in the material master.
- Recreate Document: If the issue persists, consider recreating the sales order or delivery document to ensure that the correct unit of measure is applied.
- Consult Configuration: If you have access to configuration settings, check the relevant settings in the sales and distribution module to ensure that they are correctly set up for the material and sales process.
- User Training: Ensure that users are trained on the correct procedures for entering sales orders and handling units of measure to minimize manual entry errors.
