Message text: Cannot delete entity &2 (entity type &1); entity is a hierarchy node

hierarchy. Entity &V2& of entity type &V1& is still in the hierarchy of
characteristic &V3& as a higher-level node.
The entity is <ZH>not</> deleted.
First remove all the places where entity &V2& of entity type &V1& is a

USMD2207
- Cannot delete entity &2 (entity type &1); entity is a hierarchy node ?The SAP error message USMD2207 indicates that you are trying to delete an entity that is part of a hierarchy in the Master Data Governance (MDG) module. The error message specifies that the entity you are attempting to delete is a hierarchy node, which means it cannot be deleted directly because it is linked to other entities in a hierarchical structure.
Cause:
The primary cause of this error is that the entity you are trying to delete is a node in a hierarchy. In SAP MDG, entities that are part of a hierarchy cannot be deleted directly to maintain the integrity of the hierarchical structure. This is a safeguard to prevent orphaned nodes or broken links in the hierarchy.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can follow these steps:
Check Hierarchy Structure: Review the hierarchy structure to understand the relationships and dependencies of the entity you are trying to delete. You can use transaction codes like
MDG_MAT
for material master data or other relevant transactions for different data types to visualize the hierarchy.Remove Dependencies: If the entity is part of a hierarchy, you may need to remove it from the hierarchy first. This can typically be done by:
- Navigating to the hierarchy management screen.
- Finding the entity in the hierarchy.
- Detaching or unlinking it from its parent or child nodes.
Delete the Entity: Once the entity is no longer part of any hierarchy, you should be able to delete it without encountering the error.
Check for Other Dependencies: Ensure that there are no other dependencies or references to the entity in other parts of the system that might prevent deletion.
Consult Documentation: If you are unsure about the steps or the implications of removing an entity from a hierarchy, consult the SAP documentation or your organization's SAP MDG guidelines.
Related Information:
MDG_MAT
for material master data or MDG_BS
for business partner data.By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the error and successfully delete the entity if it is no longer needed.
