Message text: You cannot remap characters of a custom SAPscript font
You tried to remap one or more characters which are contained in the
custom SAPscript font (i.e. a TrueType font installed by the customer).
The system does not allow to remap these characters. The entire action
was discarded. Characters supported by a custom SAPscript font always
have priority in a Unicode Reference Device Type.
Example:
A customer has installed the TrueType font "Comic Sans MS" as custom
SAPscript font ZCOMIC. This TrueType font contains a glyph (i.e. a
character shape) for Unicode codepoint U+0021 (exclamation mark). When
editing Unicode Reference Device Types, it is not allowed to replace the
U+0031 character from Comic Sans MS with the character from another
font.
When you select characters (i.e. Unicode codepoints) which you want to
assign to another font, make sure you only choose characters which are
currently mapped to a font from the UPE font repository.
Note: Characters which are contained in a custom SAPscript font always
have a font index value of "00".
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

UPE008
- You cannot remap characters of a custom SAPscript font ?The SAP error message UPE008, which states "You cannot remap characters of a custom SAPscript font," typically occurs when there is an attempt to remap characters in a custom font that is not allowed. This can happen in the context of SAPscript, which is a SAP tool used for designing and printing forms.
Cause:
- Custom Font Restrictions: The error arises because the font you are trying to use has restrictions on character remapping. SAPscript allows remapping of characters for standard fonts, but custom fonts may not support this feature.
- Font Configuration: The custom font may not be properly configured in the SAP system, or it may not be compatible with the remapping functionality.
- Incorrect Usage: The error can also occur if the script is trying to use remapping features that are not applicable to the selected custom font.
Solution:
- Use Standard Fonts: If possible, switch to a standard SAP font that supports character remapping. This is the simplest solution if the custom font is not essential.
- Check Font Configuration: Ensure that the custom font is correctly configured in the SAP system. You can check the font settings in transaction SE73 (SAPscript Font Maintenance).
- Modify the Script: Review the SAPscript code to ensure that it does not attempt to remap characters for the custom font. Remove any remapping instructions related to the custom font.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for guidance on using custom fonts and their limitations.
- Contact SAP Support: If the issue persists and you need to use the custom font, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance or to check if there are any updates or patches available that address this issue.
