SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message text: Length error for barcode &

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The number of characters transferred to a bar code does not correspond
to the bar code definition in SAPscript font maintenance.

    System Response

The number of characters specified in the text are still transferred to
the bar code. This may cause an error when output to the printer.

    How to fix this error?

Please check the number of characters which are transferred to the bar
code. In SAPscript font maintenance, both a minimum and a maximum
number of characters are defined for each bar code and these are
checked when the text is formatted.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    Example:
A minimum and maximum value of 8 characters is defined in the font
maintenance for the bar code "EAN8" (European Article Number,
8-character). Therefore, exactly 8 characters must always be
transferred. "B1" is the name of the character string which activates
the bar code "EAN8". The following line
    <(>...<B1>1234567</>...<)>
would create this error message as the character number defined for the
bar code is 8, but in the text only 7 characters are being transferred.
