  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TD155 - Copying with the same name &1 and in the same client &2 is not allowed ?

The SAP error message TD155 indicates that there is an attempt to copy a transport request or object with the same name within the same client, which is not allowed. This typically occurs when you are trying to create a transport request or copy an object that already exists in the target client with the same identifier.

    Cause:

    1. Duplicate Object: You are trying to copy an object (like a transport request, program, or configuration) that already exists in the same client with the same name.
    2. Transport Request Issues: There may be an issue with the transport request itself, such as it being incorrectly configured or already existing in the target client.
    3. Client Restrictions: SAP has built-in restrictions to prevent overwriting or duplicating objects in the same client to maintain data integrity.

    Solution:

    1. Check Existing Objects: Verify if the object you are trying to copy already exists in the target client. You can do this by searching for the object in the relevant transaction (e.g., SE80 for development objects).
    2. Rename the Object: If you need to create a new version of the object, consider renaming it to avoid the conflict.
    3. Use a Different Client: If possible, try to copy the object to a different client where it does not already exist.
    4. Transport Request Management: Ensure that the transport request is correctly managed and that you are not trying to copy an object that is already included in another transport request.
    5. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to transport management for any specific guidelines or restrictions that may apply to your situation.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may use transaction codes like SE09 (Transport Organizer) or SE10 (Transport Organizer for Workbench Requests) to manage transport requests.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or updates related to transport management and error TD155.
    • System Logs: Review system logs for additional context or related errors that may provide more insight into the issue.

If the problem persists after trying the above solutions, consider reaching out to your SAP Basis team or SAP support for further assistance.
