  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SV792 - View/table & can only be displayed and maintained with restrictions ?

The SAP error message SV792 indicates that a specific view or table can only be displayed and maintained with restrictions. This typically occurs when the view or table is part of a restricted area in the SAP system, often due to authorization settings or the nature of the data being sensitive or critical.

    Cause:

    1. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to fully access or modify the view/table. This is common in environments where data security and integrity are paramount.
    2. System Configuration: Certain views or tables are designed to be read-only or have limited maintenance capabilities to prevent accidental changes that could affect system stability or data integrity.
    3. Data Sensitivity: The data contained within the view/table may be sensitive, and SAP restricts access to protect it.

    Solution:

    1. Check Authorizations:

      • Verify the user's authorization profile to ensure they have the necessary permissions to access and maintain the view/table. This can be done using transaction code SU53 to analyze authorization failures.
      • If necessary, work with your SAP security team to adjust the user's roles and permissions.
    2. Review Configuration:

      • Check the configuration settings for the specific view/table to determine if it is intentionally set to be read-only. This can often be found in the Data Dictionary (transaction code SE11).
      • If changes are needed, ensure that they are made in accordance with your organization's policies and procedures.
    3. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or notes related to the specific view/table to understand its intended use and any restrictions that may apply.
    4. Contact SAP Support:

      • If the issue persists and you believe it should not be restricted, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • SE11 (Data Dictionary) to view the structure of the table/view.
      • SU53 (Authorization Check) to analyze authorization issues.
    • SAP Notes: Search for relevant SAP Notes in the SAP Support Portal that may address specific issues related to the view/table in question.
    • User Roles: Review the roles assigned to the user in transaction PFCG to ensure they align with the required access levels.
