  • What causes this issue?

You tried to assign a new address number to an existing customer number.
The customer is not uniquely identified by a VAT registration number,
that is, either the number is empty or it contains a generic value.
Unless the customer is uniquely identified by a VAT registration number,
the address number cannot be changed if the customer has been used in
documents that have been posted with a Portuguese digital signature (in
a Portuguese company code or in a Portuguese organizational unit of a
foreign company code). This restriction applies to all changes,
    including the correction of errors.

    System Response

    The system prevents the change.
Note that until you run the report
    <DS:RE.SIPT_MASTER_DATA_MIGRATION>Record Customers Used in Invoices
with Dig. Signature (PT)</> (<AB>SIPT_MASTER_DATA_MIGRATION</>), the
system blocks master data changes for <ZH>all customers </>that might be
used in a document with a Portuguese digital signature (that is,
customers that are assigned to company codes for which documents with
Portuguese digital signatures can be created).
After you have run the report, the address number change is blocked only
if the situation described under <LS>Diagnosis </>applies.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

If you have run the report and you still cannot change the address
number, you can do one of the following:
Create a new customer master record with the required address number.
Assign a valid VAT registration number to the existing customer master
record. Note that you must save the VAT registration number before you
    change the address number.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SIPT610 - Address number &1 assigned to customer number &2 cannot be changed ?

The SAP error message SIPT610 indicates that there is an issue with changing the address number assigned to a specific customer number. This error typically arises in the context of customer master data management within the SAP system.

    Cause:

The error message SIPT610 is triggered when you attempt to change the address number associated with a customer that is already assigned in the system. This can happen for several reasons, including:

    1. Address Number Locking: The address number may be locked due to ongoing transactions or processes that are using that address.
    2. Data Integrity Constraints: The system enforces data integrity rules that prevent changes to certain fields if they are linked to other data or if they are part of a completed transaction.
    3. Configuration Settings: There may be specific configuration settings in the SAP system that restrict changes to address numbers for certain customer types or statuses.

    Solution:

To resolve the SIPT610 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check for Locks: Ensure that the address number is not locked by any ongoing processes. You can check transaction codes like SM12 (for lock entries) to see if there are any locks on the address number.

    2. Review Customer Data: Verify if the customer data is in a state that allows changes. If the customer is involved in open transactions (like sales orders, deliveries, etc.), you may need to complete or cancel those transactions before making changes.

    3. Use the Correct Transaction: Make sure you are using the appropriate transaction for changing customer data. For example, use transaction code XD02 for changing customer master data.

    4. Consult Configuration: If you have access to configuration settings, check if there are any restrictions set up in the customer master data configuration that prevent changes to address numbers.

    5. Contact Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting the SAP community for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as XD01 (Create Customer), XD02 (Change Customer), and XD03 (Display Customer).
    • SAP Notes: Check for any SAP Notes related to customer master data management that might provide additional insights or solutions for this error.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation on customer master data management for best practices and guidelines on handling address changes.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the SIPT610 error and implement a solution to resolve it.
