  • Message number: 701

  • Message text: Generic data record '&1' of table &2 is redundant in BC Set &3

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

BC Set &V3& contains data records for table/view &V2& with generic
deletions, for which there are several duplicate data records in the BC
Set, because of the generic key entry.
Example 1: The BC Set contains a data record with the key 'ABC*' and one
with the key 'A*'. In this case, 'ABC*' is contained in the key 'A*',
and the data record 'ABC*' is not required in the BC Set.
Example 2: The BC Set contains the data record with the key 'ABCD',
twice. This can happen if the BC Set first contained the generic key
'A*', and later the key 'ABC*'. One of the duplicate data records (with
key 'ABCD') can be removed from the BC Set.

    System Response

The BC Set contains redundant information about the data record '&V1&'.
It is removed automatically in change mode in the BC Set maintenance
transaction, to avoid display and update problems. Redundant data should
not cause problems in other BC Set transactions (e.g. BC Set
    activation).

The SAP error message SCPR701 indicates that there is a redundancy issue with a generic data record in a Business Configuration Set (BC Set). This typically occurs when the same data record is defined multiple times within the same BC Set, which can lead to inconsistencies and confusion during configuration.

    Cause:

The error is caused by the presence of duplicate entries in the specified BC Set. This can happen due to:

    • Manual entry errors where the same record is added more than once.
    • Data import processes that inadvertently create duplicates.
    • Merging of BC Sets that contain overlapping records.

    Solution:

To resolve the SCPR701 error, you can follow these steps:

      • Use transaction code SCPR20 (BC Set Management) to view the contents of the specified BC Set.
      • Look for the record indicated in the error message (the record with the identifier &1 in table &2).
    2. Remove Duplicates:

      • Once you identify the duplicate records, you can either delete the redundant entries or modify them to ensure that each record is unique.
      • If you are unsure which record to keep, review the data to determine which entry is correct or most relevant.
    3. Revalidate the BC Set:

      • After making changes, revalidate the BC Set to ensure that there are no more redundancy issues.
      • You can do this by using the validation function in the BC Set management transaction.
    4. Transport Changes:

      • If the BC Set is part of a transport request, ensure that the changes are included in the transport before moving to other systems.
    5. Testing:

      • After resolving the issue, test the configuration to ensure that it behaves as expected without any further errors.

    Related Information:

    • BC Sets: Business Configuration Sets are used in SAP to manage configuration data for various applications. They allow for easy transport and management of configuration settings.
