Message text: BW-relevant hierarchies are stored for DataSource/source system
The relevant hierarchies in BW are stored according to the combination
DataSource/source system.
If you want to change the selection of BW-relevant hierarchies, this
change is effective for all InfoPackages that have been created for the
same DataSource/source system combination.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Check all other InfoPackages for DataSource &V1& and source system &V2&
to see whether the change executed is also appropriate for these
InfoPackages.
If you want to load a hierarchy in a different InfoPackage (which will
be marked as <ZH>non</> BW-relevant as a result of your changes) the
selections made for this InfoPackage will be lost and The InfoPackage
can no longer load.
Errors will occur when you start the InfoPackages. The monitor produces
an error message to say that a valid hierarchy selection has to be made.

RSM025
- BW-relevant hierarchies are stored for DataSource/source system ?The SAP error message RSM025 indicates that there are BW-relevant hierarchies stored for a specific DataSource or source system. This typically occurs when you are trying to delete or modify a DataSource that has associated hierarchies in the BW system.
Cause:
The error arises because the DataSource you are attempting to delete or modify is linked to hierarchies that are used in BW reporting or data modeling. Hierarchies are structures that define relationships between data elements, and if they are still in use, the system prevents changes to ensure data integrity.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can follow these steps:
Identify the Hierarchies:
- Use transaction code
RSA1
to access the Data Warehousing Workbench.- Navigate to the DataSource in question and check for any associated hierarchies.
Remove or Modify Hierarchies:
- If the hierarchies are no longer needed, you can delete them. This can be done in the Hierarchy maintenance area of the BW system.
- If the hierarchies are still required, consider modifying them instead of deleting the DataSource.
Check for Dependencies:
- Ensure that there are no other objects (like InfoObjects, InfoProviders, etc.) that depend on the hierarchies. You may need to adjust or delete these dependencies first.
Transport Requests:
- If you are working in a development environment, ensure that any changes you make are included in the appropriate transport requests for movement to production.
Re-attempt the Operation:
- Once you have addressed the hierarchies, try to delete or modify the DataSource again.
