  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSEC292 - Authorization &1 generated (also see long text) ?

The SAP error message RSEC292 indicates that an authorization object has been generated for a specific user or role, which may not have the necessary authorizations to perform a certain action. This message is typically related to the SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and its authorization management.

    Cause:

    The error usually occurs when:

    1. A user tries to access a BW object (like a query, report, or data model) for which they do not have the required authorizations.
    2. The authorization object has been generated due to changes in the data model or the underlying data structure, which may not have been reflected in the user's authorizations.
    3. There may be inconsistencies in the authorization data or missing roles assigned to the user.

    Solution:

To resolve the RSEC292 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Use transaction code SU53 immediately after the error occurs to see which authorization check failed. This will provide insight into what specific authorization is missing.
    2. Review Role Assignments:

      • Ensure that the user has the appropriate roles assigned that include the necessary authorizations for the BW objects they are trying to access. You can check this using transaction PFCG.
    3. Generate Authorizations:

      • If there have been changes to the data model or authorization objects, you may need to regenerate the authorizations. This can be done using transaction RSECADMIN:
        • Go to the "Authorization" tab.
        • Select the relevant InfoProvider or query.
        • Click on "Generate Authorizations".
    4. Check Authorization Objects:

      • Review the specific authorization objects that are relevant to the BW queries or reports being accessed. Ensure that the necessary fields are filled correctly.
    5. Consult Long Text:

      • The error message may have a long text that provides additional context or specific instructions. You can view this by clicking on the long text option in the error message dialog.
    6. Testing:

      • After making changes, test the access again to ensure that the user can now access the required BW objects without encountering the error.
