- There is no competing fixed value for characteristic &1 ?The SAP error message RSDMD004, which states "There is no competing fixed value for characteristic &1," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when working with InfoObjects and their fixed values. This error indicates that the system is unable to find a fixed value for the specified characteristic that is required for the operation you are trying to perform.
Cause:
- Missing Fixed Value: The characteristic specified in the error message does not have a fixed value defined in the context of the query or the data model you are working with.
- Incorrect Query Design: The query may be designed in such a way that it expects a fixed value for a characteristic that is not available in the data source.
- Data Model Issues: There may be issues with the underlying data model or InfoObject settings that prevent the fixed value from being recognized.
Solution:
- Check Fixed Values: Go to the InfoObject maintenance for the characteristic mentioned in the error message and verify if fixed values are defined. If not, you may need to create or assign fixed values.
- Review Query Design: If you are working with a query, check the query design to ensure that it is correctly set up to use the fixed values. Make sure that the characteristic is included in the query and that it is set to use fixed values if required.
- Data Source Validation: Ensure that the data source being used in the query or report contains the necessary data for the characteristic. If the data source does not have the required values, you may need to adjust the data extraction or transformation process.
- Check for Competing Values: If there are multiple fixed values defined for the characteristic, ensure that there are no conflicts or competing values that could lead to ambiguity.
- Rebuild or Refresh: Sometimes, rebuilding the query or refreshing the data model can resolve issues related to fixed values. Try to refresh the data or re-execute the query after making changes.
