RSDD083
- Direct activation not possible. Use change run ?The SAP error message RSDD083: Direct activation not possible. Use change run typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when you are trying to activate a data model (like InfoObjects, InfoProviders, or other BW objects) directly, but the system is configured to require a change run for activation instead.
Cause:
- Change Run Configuration: The system is set up to require a change run for activating certain objects. This is often a part of the system's configuration to ensure that changes are managed and activated in a controlled manner.
- Transport Management: If the object is part of a transport request, direct activation may not be allowed to maintain consistency across different environments (development, quality, production).
- Dependencies: There may be dependencies on other objects that need to be activated first, and the system is preventing direct activation to avoid inconsistencies.
Solution:
To resolve the RSDD083 error, you should follow these steps:
Use Change Run:
- Go to the transaction code RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench).
- Navigate to the area where the object is located (e.g., InfoObjects, InfoProviders).
- Select the object you want to activate.
- Instead of trying to activate it directly, look for the option to create a change run. This is usually found in the menu under "Activate" or "Change Run".
- Create a change run and include the objects you want to activate.
- Execute the change run to activate the objects.
Check for Dependencies:
- Ensure that all dependent objects are activated. Sometimes, the object you are trying to activate may depend on other objects that need to be activated first.
Review Transport Requests:
- If the object is part of a transport request, ensure that the transport is released and that you are working in the correct environment.
Consult Documentation:
- If you are unsure about the change run process or how to manage activations, refer to SAP documentation or consult with your SAP Basis or BW administrator.
Related Information:
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSDD083 error and successfully activate your BW objects.
