What causes this issue?

You want to append a node to a monitoring attribute in the monitoring
tree. You can only append additional nodes to virtual and rule nodes.
You cannot append them to real MTEs (monitoring objects and
attributes).

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
