QP359
- Dependent characteristic specs for referenced insp. char. not allowed ?The SAP error message QP359, which states "Dependent characteristic specs for referenced insp. char. not allowed," typically occurs in the context of Quality Management (QM) when you are trying to create or modify inspection characteristics in a Quality Inspection Plan (QIP) or a similar configuration.
Cause:
This error arises when you attempt to assign dependent characteristic specifications to a referenced inspection characteristic. In SAP QM, an inspection characteristic can be either independent or dependent. Dependent characteristics are those that rely on the values of other characteristics. However, SAP does not allow dependent specifications for characteristics that are referenced from another characteristic.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:
Check Characteristic Type: Ensure that the inspection characteristic you are trying to create or modify is set up correctly. If it is a referenced characteristic, it should not have dependent specifications.
Modify Specifications: If you have mistakenly assigned dependent specifications to a referenced characteristic, you will need to remove those dependent specifications. Instead, you can define independent specifications for the referenced characteristic.
Review Inspection Plan: Go through the entire inspection plan to ensure that all characteristics are defined correctly and that there are no conflicting specifications.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for more detailed information on how to set up inspection characteristics correctly.
Testing: After making the necessary changes, test the inspection plan to ensure that the error no longer occurs.
