  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You want to create or change a bill of material (BOM) for the
    <DS:GLOS.3526BBD7AFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>structured material</> &V1&.
However, the material has already been listed. You have either just
    created the <DS:GLOS.3526BBD2AFAB52B9E10000009B38F974>listing
conditions</> in this transaction, or they already existed.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

You can continue since the material is not yet used in purchase orders
or sales orders, and also because there is not yet any stock of the
    material.
However, please note that any components that you now additionally
include in the BOM for the structured material will not automatically
be listed as components of the structured material. After saving your
data, you must therefore relist the structured material if you want all
of the components to be listed automatically as components of the
    structured material.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MU073 - Material &1 listed already; new components must be listed separately ?

The SAP error message MU073 indicates that a material (denoted as &1 in the message) is already listed in the system, and any new components or materials must be listed separately. This error typically occurs in the context of creating or modifying a bill of materials (BOM) or when trying to add components to a material that is already part of a BOM.

    Cause:

    1. Duplicate Entry: The material you are trying to add is already included in the BOM or the list of components for the specified material.
    2. Incorrect BOM Structure: The system expects each component to be listed separately, and the current entry violates this requirement.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the BOM or material master that enforce unique entries for components.

    Solution:

    1. Check Existing BOM: Review the existing BOM for the material in question to confirm if the component is already listed. You can do this using transaction code CS03 (Display BOM).
    2. Modify the BOM: If you need to add a new component, ensure that it is not the same as an existing one. If it is a different variant or type, you may need to create a new entry or modify the existing one appropriately.
    3. Use Separate Entries: If you are trying to add a component that is similar to an existing one, consider creating a new material number for it if it needs to be treated as a separate entity.
    4. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help files related to BOM management to understand the specific requirements for listing components.
    5. Check Configuration: If you have access, check the configuration settings in the SAP system related to BOMs to ensure they are set up correctly.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • CS01: Create BOM
      • CS02: Change BOM
      • CS03: Display BOM
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional context.
    • User Roles: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to modify BOMs and materials in the system.
    • Training: If you are unfamiliar with BOM management in SAP, consider seeking training or resources that cover the basics of material management and BOM creation.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the MU073 error and successfully manage your materials and BOMs in SAP.
