Message type: E = Error
Message class: M7 - Inventory Management and Physical Inventory
Message number: 205
Message text: Caution: Full product has several bills of material
You want to carry out a physical inventory for a material which is
related to an "empties" material. For this material, several BOM's with
different units of measure exist. If there are inventory differences, a
differences posting is carried out for the items (empties) of the BOM
for which a unit of measure was entered. This can lead to incorrect
postings because the empties of the other BOM's are not taken into
account.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Check the postings for the empties on the basis of the physical
inventory documents. In the case of incorrect postings, adjustment of
the stocks is required by way of a physical inventory of the "empties"
material affected.

- Caution: Full product has several bills of material ?The SAP error message M7205, which states "Caution: Full product has several bills of material," typically occurs in the context of material management and production planning within the SAP system. This message indicates that there are multiple bills of material (BOMs) associated with a single product, which can lead to confusion or errors in production planning and inventory management.
Cause:
- Multiple BOMs: The primary cause of this error is that the material in question has more than one BOM defined in the system. This can happen if different versions of the BOM exist for different production scenarios, or if there are errors in the BOM configuration.
- Configuration Issues: Sometimes, the configuration of the material master or BOM settings may lead to this situation, especially if the BOMs are not properly maintained or if there are inconsistencies in the data.
- Version Control: If version control is not properly managed, it can lead to multiple active BOMs for the same product.
Solution:
- Review BOMs: Check the BOMs associated with the material. You can do this by using transaction codes like CS03 (Display BOM) or CS02 (Change BOM) to see all the BOMs linked to the material.
- Consolidate BOMs: If multiple BOMs are not needed, consider consolidating them into a single BOM. This may involve updating the existing BOM or creating a new one that encompasses all necessary components.
- Version Management: Ensure that version management is properly set up. If different versions of the BOM are required, make sure that the correct version is being used in production planning.
- Data Consistency: Check for data consistency in the material master and BOM settings. Ensure that there are no discrepancies that could lead to confusion.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on managing BOMs and resolving related issues.
