  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

When the price unit is changed, all prices of the material are
recalculated. When calculating the standard price, the system detected
a rounding error. This means that the valuation price does not exactly
correspond to the stock value (possibly multiplied by the price unit)
    divided by the stock quantity.
    <ZH>Example</>
    Stock value,,,,$10,001.00
    Price unit,,,,10
    Stock quantity,,5,000 pieces
Dividing the stock value (multiplied by the price unit) by the stock
quantity results in a valuation price of $20.002. However, since the
price in dollars is rounded to two decimal places, the valuation price
determined by the system is $20.00, that is, a rounding error occurs.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

To accept the rounding error, choose <LS>Enter</>. Otherwise, change
    the price unit.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message M3137 - The new price unit causes rounding errors in the standard price ?

The SAP error message M3137, which states "The new price unit causes rounding errors in the standard price," typically occurs when there is a discrepancy in the price unit of a material that leads to rounding issues in the calculation of the standard price. This can happen during various transactions, such as when changing the price unit in a material master record or during inventory valuation.

    Cause:

    1. Price Unit Change: The error often arises when the price unit of a material is changed to a value that does not align with the existing standard price, leading to rounding discrepancies.
    2. Decimal Places: The number of decimal places defined for the currency or the material may not be sufficient to accommodate the new price unit.
    3. Standard Price Calculation: The standard price is calculated based on the price unit, and if the new price unit does not allow for a precise calculation, it results in rounding errors.

    Solution:

    1. Review Price Unit: Check the price unit in the material master record. Ensure that the new price unit is appropriate and does not lead to rounding issues.
    2. Adjust Standard Price: If necessary, adjust the standard price to a value that aligns with the new price unit. This may involve recalculating the standard price based on the new price unit.
    3. Check Decimal Settings: Ensure that the decimal places for the currency and material are set correctly. You may need to adjust the settings in the configuration to allow for more decimal places if required.
    4. Use Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like MM02 (Change Material) to modify the material master data and CK11N (Create Material Cost Estimate) to recalculate the standard price.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for specific guidelines related to your version of SAP and the configuration settings in your system.
