Inventory Management and Warehouse Management, no postings that affect
stock figures are allowed while the program is running.

For this reason, the program has tried to block all the materials in
    the respective warehouse number.
The block could not be set because a system error occurred.

If you merely want to take a look at the stock differences, you can

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message L1216 - No batch input session can be created because material cannot be blocked ?

The SAP error message L1216 indicates that a batch input session cannot be created because the material in question cannot be blocked. This typically occurs in the context of inventory management or material master data processing, where certain operations require the material to be in a specific status or condition.

    Cause:

The error can be caused by several factors, including:

    1. Material Status: The material may have a status that prevents it from being blocked. For example, it could be marked as "blocked" or "restricted" in the material master data.
    2. Stock Type: The stock type of the material (e.g., unrestricted, quality inspection, blocked) may not allow for blocking.
    3. Open Purchase Orders or Sales Orders: If there are open transactions (like purchase orders or sales orders) that reference the material, it may prevent blocking.
    4. User Authorizations: The user attempting to create the batch input session may not have the necessary authorizations to block the material.
    5. System Configuration: There may be configuration settings in the system that restrict the blocking of materials under certain conditions.

    Solution:

To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Material Status:

      • Go to the material master record (transaction code MM03) and check the status of the material. Ensure that it is not set to a status that prevents blocking.
    2. Review Stock Type:

      • Check the stock type of the material. If it is in a stock type that cannot be blocked, you may need to move it to a different stock type.
    3. Check Open Transactions:

      • Review any open purchase orders, sales orders, or other transactions that may be referencing the material. You may need to close or adjust these transactions.
    4. User Authorizations:

      • Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to perform the operation. You may need to consult with your SAP security team.
    5. Consult Configuration:

      • If the issue persists, consult with your SAP configuration team to review any settings that may be affecting the ability to block materials.
    6. Use Transaction Codes:

      • You can use transaction codes like MB1A, MB1B, or MB1C to check the stock movements and see if there are any issues related to the material.
