Message text: Generation of check tables; Assignment of numbers
When you edit characteristics, check tables are created for newly
defined characteristics. A check table contains the permitted values of
a characteristic; during data entry a data record and its
characteristic values are verified with the relevant check tables.
New check tables must be created for some of the characteristics
currently being edited. The name of the check table is formed
synthetically using a prefix (for example, 'T27' ,'T25' or
'/1SAP1/FC_TFG2') and a two-digit number as a suffix. This number can
be allocated
manually or automatically.
In both cases the system will verify that the resulting name is still
free for use.
Decide whether you will manually assign the check table numbers or if
they are to be allocated automatically (consecutively) by the system.
If your R/3 entire configuration consists of just one system, you can
choose automatic allocation. In the case of several R/3 Systems, you
should choose manual allocation.
For the allocation note the following general points.:
The check tables are created cross-client in the ABAP Dictionary and in
the database, this means that they are valid system-wide. If
Customizing is carried out in parallel in different R/3 Systems, for
example in the test system and the production system, you must ensure
that the check tables are also unique system-wide. Otherwise a
subsequent merging by transport would no longer be possible (name
conflict).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Example: in a test system a check table 'T2724' is created inError message extract from SAP system. Copyright SAP SE.
