The SAP error message KM867 ("Profit center must not be initial in non-statistical row &1") typically occurs in the context of controlling (CO) when you are trying to post a transaction that involves a profit center, but the profit center field is left blank (initial) for a non-statistical row in a CO document.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Profit Center: The most common cause of this error is that the profit center field is not filled in for a non-statistical line item. In SAP, profit centers are required for certain types of postings to ensure that financial data is accurately tracked and reported.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the controlling area or profit center accounting that require a profit center to be specified for certain types of transactions.

    2. Check Configuration: If you believe that the profit center should not be mandatory for the transaction type you are working with, you may need to review the configuration settings in the controlling area:

      • Go to the configuration settings in SAP (transaction code SPRO).
      • Navigate to the relevant settings for profit center accounting and check if the profit center is set as mandatory for the type of transaction you are trying to post.
    3. Review Document Type: Ensure that the document type you are using allows for the posting without a profit center if that is your intention. Some document types may have specific requirements.

    4. Consult with a Functional Consultant: If you are unsure about the configuration or the requirements for profit centers in your organization, it may be helpful to consult with a functional consultant or someone in your finance department who is familiar with SAP CO settings.
