KM706
- No plant characteristic entered for the charact. representative material ?The SAP error message KM706, which states "No plant characteristic entered for the characteristic representative material," typically occurs in the context of SAP's classification system, particularly when dealing with characteristics and materials in the context of classification and variant configuration.
Cause:
This error usually arises when:
- Missing Plant Assignment: The characteristic representative material does not have a plant assigned to it. In SAP, characteristics can be defined at the plant level, and if a plant is not specified, the system cannot process the material correctly.
- Incorrect Configuration: The configuration of the material or the characteristics may not be set up correctly, leading to the inability to find the necessary plant characteristics.
- Data Inconsistency: There may be inconsistencies in the master data, such as missing or incorrect entries in the material master or classification data.
Solution:
To resolve the KM706 error, you can take the following steps:
Check Material Master Data:
- Go to the material master record for the characteristic representative material.
- Ensure that the plant is correctly assigned and that the necessary characteristics are defined for that plant.
Assign Characteristics to Plant:
- Navigate to the classification system in SAP (Transaction CL02 for changing characteristics).
- Check if the characteristic is assigned to the correct plant. If not, you may need to assign it.
Review Characteristic Settings:
- Ensure that the characteristic settings are correct and that they are marked as relevant for the plant.
- Check if the characteristic is set up as a "plant-specific" characteristic.
Check Classification Data:
- Ensure that the classification data for the material is complete and that all required characteristics are filled in.
Consult Documentation:
- Review SAP documentation or help resources for any specific configuration settings related to your version of SAP.
Testing:
- After making the necessary changes, test the configuration again to see if the error persists.
Related Information:
If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a functional consultant who specializes in material management or classification in SAP.
