  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message KD562 - Settlement type &: Total percentage in distribution rules <> 100% ?

The SAP error message KD562, which states "Settlement type &: Total percentage in distribution rules <> 100%," typically occurs during the settlement process in SAP Controlling (CO) when the distribution rules for a cost object (like an internal order or a project) do not sum up to 100%. This can prevent the settlement from proceeding, as SAP requires that the distribution percentages must total exactly 100% for the settlement to be valid.

    Cause:

    1. Incorrect Distribution Rules: The distribution rules defined for the cost object may not add up to 100%. This can happen if:

      • Some distribution percentages are missing.
      • The percentages have been incorrectly entered.
      • There are changes in the distribution rules that have not been updated correctly.
    2. Manual Adjustments: If manual adjustments were made to the distribution rules, it’s possible that the total was not recalculated or adjusted accordingly.

    3. Configuration Issues: There may be issues in the configuration of the settlement types or the related settings in the controlling area.

    Solution:

    1. Check Distribution Rules:

      • Go to the relevant cost object (e.g., internal order, project) and review the distribution rules.
      • Ensure that all distribution percentages are entered correctly and that they sum to 100%.
    2. Adjust Percentages:

      • If the total is less than or greater than 100%, adjust the individual percentages accordingly to ensure they total 100%.
    3. Review Settlement Type:

      • Check the configuration of the settlement type being used. Ensure that it is set up correctly and that it allows for the distribution rules you are trying to apply.
    4. Recalculate:

      • After making adjustments, recalculate the distribution rules if necessary and try the settlement process again.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • If you are unsure about how to adjust the distribution rules or the configuration, refer to SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may use transaction codes like KO02 (Change Order) or CJ20N (Project Builder) to access and modify the distribution rules.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address specific issues related to settlement types and distribution rules.
    • User Roles: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to the cost objects and their distribution rules.
