  • Message text: Stock transfer of handling units to different warehouses not possible

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You want to carry out a stock transfer with several target storage
locations or one cross-plant stock transfer. It is not possible to
carry out a stock transfer with handling units, as the target storage
location must be the same for all components groups. In addition, a
cross-plant stock transfer is not possible.

    System Response

    The action is terminated.

    How to fix this error?

Carry out the action separately per target storage location.
When storing (action <LS>WIN</>), the target location (buffer storage)
is stored in the control profile for internal calls.
When removing from storage (action <LS>WOUT</>), the receiving storage
location is referenced in the production version of the components
group material. The restriction to the same target storage location
does not apply for stock transfer without handling units.
You can define the control profile in the IMG activity
<DS:SIMG.SIMG_CFMENULEOJIT8>Define Control Profile for Internal Calls
</> and then assign a components group type in the basic data.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message JIT00618 - Stock transfer of handling units to different warehouses not possible ?

The SAP error message JIT00618 indicates that there is an issue with transferring handling units (HUs) between different warehouses. This error typically arises in scenarios involving logistics and inventory management, particularly when dealing with handling units in the Just-In-Time (JIT) process.

    Cause:

The error message JIT00618 can occur due to several reasons:

    1. Warehouse Configuration: The warehouses involved in the stock transfer may not be configured to allow transfers of handling units. This could be due to settings in the warehouse management system (WMS) or the logistics execution system (LES).

    2. Handling Unit Status: The handling units may be in a status that does not allow them to be transferred. For example, if the handling units are already in a process (like being picked or packed), they cannot be moved to another warehouse.

    3. Stock Type Restrictions: There may be restrictions on the stock types that can be transferred between warehouses. For instance, if the stock is blocked or in quality inspection, it may not be eligible for transfer.

    4. Inconsistent Data: There could be inconsistencies in the data related to the handling units, such as incorrect warehouse assignments or missing information.

    Solution:

To resolve the JIT00618 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Warehouse Configuration: Ensure that the warehouses involved in the transfer are correctly configured to allow handling unit transfers. This may involve checking the settings in the warehouse management module.

    2. Review Handling Unit Status: Verify the status of the handling units you are trying to transfer. If they are in a status that prevents transfer, you may need to change their status or wait until they are available for transfer.

    3. Examine Stock Types: Check the stock types of the handling units. If they are in a restricted stock type (like blocked or quality inspection), you may need to change their status or move them to a different stock type before attempting the transfer.

    4. Data Consistency Check: Ensure that all relevant data for the handling units is consistent and complete. This includes checking the warehouse assignments, material master data, and any other related information.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific details related to handling units and stock transfers. This can provide additional insights into configuration settings and troubleshooting steps.

    6. Contact Support: If the issue persists after checking the above points, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as LT03 (Transfer Order) or HU02 (Handling Unit) to manage handling units and stock transfers effectively.
    • Training and Documentation: Ensure that users involved in warehouse operations are trained on handling units and stock transfer processes to minimize errors.
