  • What causes this issue?

In Customizing under <LS>Define field selection for components (PM and
CS)</>, you have configured the field <LS>Reservation/P.Req</> such
that it is only displayed when the item category &V1& is used. Thus,
it cannot be used to change the MRP-relevance.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    System Response

The MRP-relevance is reset depending on the Customizing settings under
<LS>Define Change Documents, Collective Purchase Requisition, MRP-
Relevance</> and depending on the order status. The system proceeds as
    follows:
    <ZH>When creating an order:</>
The system sets the MRP-relevance that is currently configured with the
Customizing setting <ZH>Define Change Documents, Collective Purchase
    Requisition, MRP-Relevance</>.
    <ZH>In status created (CRTD):</>
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing is set to <LB>never</>, the system
    sets it to <LB>never</>.
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing is set to <LB>immediate</>, the
    system sets it to <LB>immediate</>.
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing is set to <LB>from release</>, then
it is set depending on the activation of the reservation or purchase
    requisition:
If the generation of reservations and purchase requisitions was
activated manually using the pushbutton <LB>Activate Res./P.Req (Ctrl+
F3)</>, then the MRP-relevance is set to <LB>immediate</>.
If the generation of reservations and purchase requisitions was not
manually activated, the MRP-relevance is set to <LB>from release</>.
    <ZH>In status released (REL):</>
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing is set to <LB>never</>, the system
    sets it to <LB>never</>.
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing is set to <LB>from release</> or
<LB>immediate</>, the system sets it to <LB>immediate</>.
    <ZH>When changing an existing order:</>
The system sets the MRP-relevance that applied when the order was
created under the Customizing setting <LS>Define Change Documents,
Collective Purchase Requisitions, MRP-Relevance</>. This ensures the
consistency of the individual components within an order, if, for
example, new components are added and the MRP-relevance was changed in
    Customizing in the meantime.
    <ZH>In status created (CRTD):</>
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing was set to <LB>never</> during
creation, the system sets it to <LB>never</>.
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing was set to <LB>immediate</> during
creation, the system sets it to <LB>immediate</>.
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing was set to <LB>from release</>
during creation, then it is set depending on the activation of the
    reservation or purchase requisition:
If the generation of reservations and purchase requisitions was
activated manually using the pushbutton <LB>Activate Res/PReq (Ctrl+F3)
</>, or if the activation of the reservation / purchase requisition was
triggered by the change, then the MRP-relevance is set to <LB>immediate
    </>.
If the generation of reservations and purchase requisitions was not
manually activated and not triggered by the change, the MRP-relevance
    is set to <LB>from release</>.
    <ZH>In status released (REL):</>
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing was set to <LB>never</> during
creation, the system sets it to <LB>never</>.
If the MRP-relevance in Customizing was set to <LB>from release</> or
<LB>immediate</> during creation, the system sets it to <LB>immediate
    </>.

The SAP error message IW015 ("MRP-relevance will be changed") typically occurs in the context of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) when there is an attempt to change the MRP relevance of a material or a component in a production order. Cause:

The IW015 message can be triggered by several actions, including:

    3. Configuration Changes: Changes in the configuration settings related to MRP can also lead to this message being displayed.

    Solution:

To address the IW015 message, consider the following steps:

    1. Review Changes: Before proceeding with the changes, review the modifications you are making to ensure they are necessary and correct. Understand how these changes will impact MRP planning.
    2. Check MRP Settings: If you are changing the MRP type or other relevant fields, ensure that the new settings align with your planning strategy and business requirements.
    3. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's guidelines on MRP settings to understand the implications of the changes you are making.
    4. Test in a Sandbox: If possible, test the changes in a non-production environment to see how they affect MRP calculations and planning.
    5. Communicate with Stakeholders: If the changes could impact other departments (e.g., production, inventory management), communicate with relevant stakeholders to ensure everyone is aware of the changes and their potential effects.

    Related Information:

    • MRP Types: Understand the different MRP types (e.g., PD, VB, ND) and their implications on planning.
    • Material Master Data: Familiarize yourself with the fields in the material master that affect MRP, such as MRP views, procurement types, and planning strategies.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may provide additional insights or solutions related to the IW015 message.
    • Training and Documentation: Consider training sessions or documentation on MRP processes within your organization to ensure all users are aware of how changes can affect planning.
