The SAP error message IS198, which states "The date of the last goods movement was deleted or backdated," typically occurs in the context of inventory management and goods movements. This error indicates that there is an inconsistency in the date of the last goods movement for a material, which can affect inventory valuation and reporting.

    Cause:

    1. Backdating Transactions: If a goods movement (like a goods receipt or goods issue) is backdated to a date earlier than the last recorded goods movement, it can lead to this error.
    2. Deletion of Goods Movements: If a goods movement is deleted, it can cause the system to lose track of the last valid movement date.

    4. System Configuration Issues: Sometimes, configuration settings in the SAP system related to inventory management can lead to inconsistencies.

    Solution:

    1. Check Goods Movement History: Review the goods movement history for the material in question. You can use transaction codes like MB51 (Material Document List) to see the history of movements.
    2. Repost or Correct Movements: If a movement was backdated or deleted incorrectly, you may need to repost the goods movement with the correct date or restore the deleted movement if possible.
    3. Adjust Dates: If you find that a transaction was backdated, consider adjusting the date to ensure it is in line with the last goods movement.
    4. Consult with SAP Support: If the issue persists, it may be necessary to consult with SAP support or your internal SAP team to investigate further and resolve any underlying configuration issues.
    5. Review Configuration Settings: Ensure that the configuration settings for inventory management are correctly set up to prevent such issues in the future.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as MB1A (Goods Withdrawal), MB1B (Transfer Posting), and MB1C (Other Goods Receipts) for managing goods movements.
