  • What causes this issue?

    <DS:GLOS.measurement_reading>Measurement</> and
<DS:GLOS.counter_reading>counter readings</> can be transferred from
the current <DS:GLOS.measuring_point>measuring point</> to other
measuring points. Some of these measuring points are currently locked
by other users. Measurement readings cannot be transferred to the
    measuring points that are locked.
Other problems can also occur. For example, an uncanceled measurement
document, whose measurement time is the same as that in the current
document for which the counter reading should be transferred, can exist
for a counter reading transfer to the receiving
    <DS:GLOS.measuring_point>measuring point</>.

    System Response

The measuring points that are locked are stored in a special database
table. You can evaluate the contents of this table and transfer the
measurement readings to the measuring points concerned later.

    How to fix this error?

Call up the function <LS>Take up MR transfer</> at a later time.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message IR161 - Copying of MeasReadings incomplete: & MeasPoints locked ?

The SAP error message IR161, which states "Copying of MeasReadings incomplete: & MeasPoints locked," typically occurs in the context of the SAP IS-U (Industry Solution for Utilities) module when there is an attempt to copy measurement readings (MeasReadings) for a specific measurement point (MeasPoint) that is currently locked. This locking can prevent the system from processing the readings as expected.

    Cause:

    1. Measurement Point Locking: The measurement point may be locked due to ongoing processes, such as billing, data entry, or other transactions that require exclusive access to the measurement point.
    2. User Lock: A user may have locked the measurement point for editing or processing, preventing other transactions from accessing it.
    3. System Lock: The system may have a temporary lock due to a previous transaction that has not yet been completed or released.

    Solution:

    1. Check Lock Status: Use transaction code SM12 to check for any active locks on the measurement points. You can filter by the relevant user or object type to identify if there are any locks in place.
    2. Release Locks: If you find that a lock is held by a user or a process that is no longer active, you can manually release the lock. However, be cautious and ensure that releasing the lock will not disrupt any ongoing processes.
    3. Wait for Completion: If the lock is due to a legitimate ongoing process (like billing), you may need to wait until that process is completed before attempting to copy the measurement readings again.
    4. Check for Background Jobs: Sometimes, background jobs may hold locks. Use transaction SM37 to check for any background jobs that might be running and holding locks on the measurement points.
    5. Consult with Colleagues: If you are unsure about releasing a lock, consult with your colleagues or system administrators to ensure that it is safe to do so.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • SM12: To view and manage locks.
      • SM37: To check background jobs.
      • IW38: To check for work orders that might be related to the measurement points.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for IS-U for more detailed information on measurement points and handling measurement readings.
    • Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP support team for further assistance.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the IR161 error and successfully copy the measurement readings.
