  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message INM_SYNCH_FRAMEWORK066 - You cannot assign subobjects; project allows non-sequential phases ?

The SAP error message INM_SYNCH_FRAMEWORK066 indicates that there is an issue with the assignment of subobjects in a project that allows non-sequential phases. This typically occurs in the context of project management within SAP, particularly when dealing with project structures and phases.

    Cause:

The error arises when you attempt to assign subobjects (like tasks or activities) to a project that is configured to allow non-sequential phases. In such projects, the system expects that the phases can be executed in a non-linear manner, which may lead to conflicts when trying to assign subobjects that are expected to follow a specific sequence.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can consider the following steps:

    1. Check Project Configuration: Review the project settings to ensure that the configuration aligns with your intended project structure. If the project is set to allow non-sequential phases, ensure that the subobjects you are trying to assign are compatible with this configuration.

    2. Review Phase Definitions: Ensure that the phases defined in the project are correctly set up. If certain phases are meant to be sequential, you may need to adjust the project settings to reflect this.

    3. Adjust Subobject Assignments: If the project allows non-sequential phases, ensure that the subobjects you are trying to assign do not have dependencies that require them to be assigned in a specific order. You may need to re-evaluate the dependencies and adjust the assignments accordingly.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources related to project management and phase configurations. This can provide insights into how to properly configure your project and avoid such errors.

    5. Seek Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert who can provide more tailored assistance based on your specific project setup.

    Related Information:

    • Project Management in SAP: Understanding how project structures, phases, and subobjects work in SAP can help prevent such errors. Familiarize yourself with the concepts of project phases, dependencies, and the implications of allowing non-sequential phases.
    • SAP Notes and Knowledge Base: Check for any relevant SAP Notes or articles in the SAP Knowledge Base that might address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.
    • Training and Resources: Consider training sessions or resources on SAP Project System (PS) module to better understand project configurations and management.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the root cause of the error and implement a solution to resolve it.
