What causes this issue?

The item which you want to delete contains tasks which have already been
booked. From Release 3.0, all tasks are linked to status administration
and workflow. For this reason, a task which has already been booked
cannot be deleted. Therefore, the selected item cannot be deleted
either.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
