GC184
- Indicator 'Document per additional field' not uniformly maintained ?The SAP error message GC184, which states "Indicator 'Document per additional field' not uniformly maintained," typically occurs when there is an inconsistency in the configuration of the "Document per additional field" indicator across different settings in the system. This indicator is used in various SAP modules, particularly in Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO), to determine how documents are managed based on additional fields.
Cause:
The error usually arises due to one of the following reasons:
- Inconsistent Configuration: The indicator is set differently in various areas of the system (e.g., different company codes, controlling areas, or document types).
- Missing Settings: The indicator may not be set at all in some relevant configurations, leading to discrepancies.
- Transport Issues: If configurations were transported from one system to another (e.g., from development to production), inconsistencies may arise if not all relevant settings were included in the transport.
Solution:
To resolve the GC184 error, follow these steps:
Check Configuration:
- Go to the relevant configuration settings in SAP (e.g., SPRO) and navigate to the area where the "Document per additional field" indicator is set.
- Ensure that the indicator is uniformly maintained across all relevant settings (e.g., company codes, document types, etc.).
Maintain Consistency:
- If you find discrepancies, update the settings to ensure that the indicator is consistently set to the same value across all relevant configurations.
Review Transport Requests:
- If the issue arose after a transport, check the transport request to ensure that all necessary configurations were included.
- If needed, re-transport the missing configurations or manually adjust them in the target system.
Testing:
- After making the necessary changes, perform tests to ensure that the error no longer occurs and that the system behaves as expected.
Documentation:
- Document the changes made for future reference and to assist in troubleshooting similar issues.
