assessment, distribution, periodic reposting or indirect activity
allocation. However, in the master record for this WBS element you have
not specified a cost center to which you want to post to.

    System Response

The statistical WBS element &V1& is excluded from from further
processing when you execute this cycle. This is because you have a

maintenance to remind you to enter a cost center.

to which you want to post to. this ensures that the WBS element is
accepted by the system as a valid receiver.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message GA220 - Statistical WBS element & contains no cost center to be posted to ?

The SAP error message GA220 indicates that a statistical Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) element is being used in a transaction that requires a cost center, but the WBS element does not have an associated cost center. This typically occurs in the context of project accounting or internal order management when trying to post costs or expenses to a WBS element that is not set up to handle such postings.

    Cause:

    1. Statistical WBS Element: The WBS element in question is marked as statistical, which means it is used for tracking purposes only and does not have a cost center associated with it.
    2. Missing Cost Center: The WBS element does not have a cost center assigned, which is necessary for posting costs.
    3. Incorrect Configuration: The configuration of the WBS element may not be set up correctly to allow for cost postings.

    Solution:

    1. Check WBS Element Configuration:

      • Go to the WBS element in question and check its settings. Ensure that it is not set as a statistical WBS element if you intend to post costs to it.
      • If it is necessary for the WBS element to remain statistical, consider using a different WBS element that is configured to allow cost postings.
    2. Assign a Cost Center:

      • If the WBS element should be able to post costs, you can assign a cost center to it. This can typically be done in the WBS element master data.
      • Navigate to the WBS element in the SAP system and update the cost center field.
    3. Use a Different WBS Element:

      • If the current WBS element is not meant for cost postings, consider using a different WBS element that is configured correctly for your transaction.
    4. Review Transaction Type:

      • Ensure that the transaction you are trying to perform is appropriate for the WBS element you are using. Some transactions may require specific configurations.

    Related Information:

    • Statistical WBS Elements: These are used for planning and tracking purposes but do not affect financial postings. They are useful for reporting and analysis but cannot be used for actual cost postings.
    • Cost Center Assignment: In SAP, cost centers are used to track costs associated with specific areas of responsibility. Each WBS element that is intended to incur costs should have a corresponding cost center.
    • SAP Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed information on WBS elements, cost centers, and project system configuration.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the GA220 error and ensure that your WBS elements are configured correctly for your project accounting needs.
