The SAP error message FR065, which states "The required texts are not maintained in &1," typically occurs in the context of financial accounting or controlling when certain text elements that are necessary for processing a transaction or report are missing. The "&1" in the message usually refers to a specific object or document type that is lacking the required text.
Cause:
- Missing Texts: The primary cause of this error is that the required texts (such as descriptions, notes, or comments) for a specific object (like a cost center, profit center, or other master data) have not been maintained in the system.
- Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings that require certain texts to be filled in for specific transactions or reports.
- Data Migration Issues: If data has been migrated from another system, it’s possible that the text fields were not transferred correctly or were left blank.
Solution:
Maintain Required Texts:
- Navigate to the relevant master data or transaction where the error occurred.
- Check if the required text fields are available and fill them in. This could be in the form of descriptions for cost centers, profit centers, or other relevant objects.
- Use transaction codes like
KS01
(Create Cost Center),KP06
(Change Cost Center), or similar, depending on the object type.Check Configuration:
- Review the configuration settings in the relevant module (e.g., Financial Accounting or Controlling) to ensure that the requirement for texts is appropriate and necessary.
- If the requirement for texts is not needed, consider adjusting the configuration to make the text fields optional.
Data Consistency Check:
- If the error is occurring after a data migration, perform a consistency check to ensure that all required fields have been populated correctly.
- You may need to run reports or use transaction codes to identify missing texts across various objects.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help files for specific guidance on maintaining texts for the object type indicated in the error message.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
