When using the subitems (<DS:DE.CC_RFKNT>account assignment IDs</>,
categories, or conditions) the identification of predecessor document

participating line items. If this is not possible, the line items cannot
    be processed.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message FMCF714 - Predecessor reference for subitems is not unique ?

The SAP error message FMCF714, which states "Predecessor reference for subitems is not unique," typically occurs in the context of project management or financial management within SAP, particularly when dealing with subitems in a hierarchy or when managing dependencies between items.

    Cause:

This error arises when there are multiple subitems that reference the same predecessor item, leading to ambiguity in the system. In other words, the system expects each subitem to have a unique predecessor, but it finds that more than one subitem is linked to the same predecessor, which violates the uniqueness constraint.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Subitem Configuration: Review the configuration of the subitems in question. Ensure that each subitem has a unique predecessor. You may need to adjust the relationships between items to ensure that no two subitems point to the same predecessor.

    2. Modify Item Relationships: If you find that multiple subitems are indeed referencing the same predecessor, consider restructuring the hierarchy or changing the predecessor for one or more of the subitems to ensure uniqueness.

    3. Data Validation: Perform a data validation check to identify any inconsistencies in the item relationships. This can often be done through reports or queries in SAP.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on managing item relationships and dependencies. This can provide insights into best practices and configuration settings.

    5. Seek Help from SAP Support: If the issue persists and you are unable to resolve it, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP team for assistance. They may have additional tools or insights to help troubleshoot the issue.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes that may help you navigate item relationships, such as CJ20N for project management or FMCF for financial management.
